Cross training: "An exercise regimen that uses several modes of training with the goal of improving fitness, strength and performance."

Yes, it sounds serious, but keep reading. By the end, you'll be inspired to cross train YOUR way to awesome!

Add some ZING to your workout routine with cross training for whole-body fitness that mixes cardio, strength training, and flexibility!

Break free from the everyday and make a change. Changing up your workouts is better for you. By using different muscle groups, you reach a higher level of fitness and keeping things interesting also helps you stick with it.

A sample cross training schedule might look like this:

  • Monday: SPIN
  • Tuesday: Butts & Gutts or Matt Pilates
  • Wednesday: Yoga, Warrior Boot Camp or Cardio Kickboxing
  • Thursday: SPIN
  • Friday: Extreme Sculpt

Choose your cross training exercises based on your interests. You gotta love what you're doing so make it your own.  Maybe try a lunchtime 30/30. Zing PowerX! 30 Minutes of SPIN and 30 Minutes of strength training and abs.

It's important to Include 30-45 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on most days of the week, and at least two days of strength training. Supplement flexibility exercises like Barre and yoga into your routine for the max cross training benefit!

What Type of Cross Training?

Flexibility: Definitely! The ideal cross training program starts with a warm-up and ends with a cool-down stretch. It also includes yoga or stretching.

Cardio Vascular:  Assuredly! Your cross training routine should include aerobic exercises, such as spinning, Cardio Kickboxing  or DanceFit.

Strength: For Sure! You should do strength-training exercises like lifting weights or body weight exercises like push-ups at least twice a week.

Sports: Not necessarily, but cross training can absolutely help athletes get into better shape, increase stamina and improve performance.

Low-Impact: Modify! You can adapt your workouts to be low-impact!

Intensity Level

The intensity level of your cross training workout is ENTIRELY UP TO YOU. Customize it to your comfort level but try to step outside of it if you can!

You and your instructor can always modify any exercise to take down the intensity level if desired so you never feel discouraged.  Feel free bring it up by doing higher-impact exercises and using heavier weights! The sky's the limit with a cross training workout!

Areas You Will Target

Core - Ab-solutely! Sit-ups, planks, and other core exercises should definitely be part of your cross-training program.

Arms - For sure! The strength-training portion of your workouts should include biceps, triceps, and shoulders using hand weights, or resistance bands. You can also use your own body weight for resistance by doing exercises such as push-ups and dips.

Legs - Yup!  Include strength-training exercises like lunges and squats to work your leg muscles. You'll also work your legs by Spinning, doing jump squats and some of the other aerobic components of your cross training program.

Glutes - Right behind you!  Many of the same exercises that work the legs, including lunges and squats, are also good for the glutes.

Back - We got your back! This is a full-body workout, so you will want to incorporate exercises for your back, like push ups and upright rows with hand weights (the heavier the better).

  • Better overall health?
  • Improve total fitness?

The Palisades Cyclones are kids that want to mountain Bike together!

The mission of this amazing organization is to build strong minds, strong bodies and strong character through the sport of mountain biking.

Palisades Cyclones Mountain Bike Team is a member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and their student-athletes reside from Northeastern Bergen County in New Jersey.

Founded in 2009, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.

The coaches are role models and teachers who are open to learning the best practices of youth mountain bike coaching and actively work to hone their leadership skills.

Lead by Head Coach Mara Miller and co-sponsored by the Tenafly Bicycle Workshop and Zing, the Cyclones practice outdoors as weather permits as well as holding weekly practices in our state of the art spin studio. We offer many features to help improve racing technique, such as a performance tracking system with a leader board, and a bike race simulator that is displayed on a large projection screen, giving the student athletes exciting and fun goal-oriented practice rides!

"Our student athletes are so excited to be practicing at Zing!" says Mara, the Cyclone's coach. "As a coach, I am utilizing the studio's outstanding sound system, leader board and bike simulator program to provide our team with goal-oriented instruction and biofeedback such as heart-rate, expended energy, speed and cadence, all designed to improve technique and to achieve and improve our goals for races. We see the results with every practice!".

On October 1, 2016 ZING had the distinct honor and privlege to be chosen by the local liaison of the USHER1 COLLABORATIVE to be one of the many indoor cycling studios around the country to host a special fundraising ride to work towards finding a cure for Usher1F.

SIGHT. SOUND. CYCLE welcomed beginners as well as experienced spinners to join in on the fun and to unite for a great cause.

All bike reservation proceeds went to the Usher1F Collaborative to help fund Usher 1F research initiatives at University of Iowa & University of Oregon.

We are proud to have been chosen. We thank the Root Family for allowing us to host your important event and for being part of your family's mission!

What Is Usher1F Collaborative?

Usher1F Collaborative is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose mission is to fund medical research to find an effective treatment to save or restore the vision of those with Usher Syndrome type 1F.

Meet Zachary Root, an adorable, funny, happy energetic 4 year old little boy.
Zachary was born profoundly deaf which was a huge shock to the Root family. Through modern technology, cochlear implants gave him the gift of sound, allowing his speech and language development to thrive.

As he got older, Zachary’s parents noticed there was still a difference between him and his peers. After months of questioning and research, it was finally concluded that Zachary has Usher Syndrome type 1F. As if overcoming deafness was not a big enough obstacle for a little boy, the cruel reality is that Zachary will gradually lose his vision.

For his and others' sake, we must raise awareness and find a cure so that no other family has to face this unimaginably difficult reality. For more information, please visit .

This successful Nationwide cycling event has passed but your contributions are always welcome! please visit
